On January 22, 2019, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron signed the Treaty of Aachen in the historic Coronation Hall, sealing a renewal of the friendly relationship between Germany and France.<\/p>\n

Aachen City Hall is an important landmark of the city of Aachen and an impressive example of late Gothic architecture. It was built in the 14th century and initially served as a granary and cloth hall before becoming the seat of the city administration in the 15th century.<\/p>\n

The town hall impresses with its imposing facade and characteristic tower, which is also considered the landmark of the city. Aachen City Hall was rebuilt and expanded several times over the centuries. In the process, elements from other architectural styles such as the Renaissance or the Baroque were added. Nevertheless, the building always remained true to its late Gothic origins and is today considered one of the most important examples of this style in Germany.<\/p>\n
